'Diversity in action' at LGBT Jobfair

There were branded playing cards, sweets, chocolates and pens at the ready at the London Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender (LGBT) Jobfair on 5 March. Held at the Royal National Hotel, Shepherds Bush Housing Group (SBHG) ran a successful striking black stand.

Many young graduates and mature visitors were pleased to speak with employees from SBHG, the only housing association present at the event, and learn about a career in housing. Roughly 1000 job seekers are estimated to have attended the event with the SBHG team registering a keen 100 job seekers.

SBHG was among a number of organisations that desired to be a part of 'diversity in action'. Others included the London Fire Brigade, law firm Clifford Chance, graduate recruitment agencies and the LGBT network.

The jobfair is renowned for being a safe and welcoming space for people from the LGBT community - estimated at around 700,000 in London alone - to spend time with employers, directly, in an easy relaxed atmosphere, and look at careers and opportunities.
