Access to Information and Confidentiality
Shepherds Bush Housing Association (SBHA) accepts that all
tenants and applicants nominated for housing have a right of
privacy and, as such, is committed to maintaining confidentiality
of information held about individuals in all areas of its work.
The Association is bound by the Data Protection Act of 1998 and,
as such, will not disclose information held about individuals to
unauthorised third parties without the individual's consent.
In all areas of SBHA's work, individuals will be made fully
aware of the reasons why personal information is required and held
in the Association's records. We will only hold information about
tenants which is relevant to the purpose for which it is kept, and
all information will be held securely.
If we are planning to ask for 'sensitive' information from you,
such as your ethnic origin or disability we will specifically ask
your permission before we obtain it.
With the exception of information which has been given
confidentially or is legally protected, all tenants have access to
information held on them, which includes personal data held on
computer. This information will be made available free of charge
and on request. If you wish to see such information, you should
contact the Customer Services team at our registered office in the
first instance.
