Tenant Involvement
Shepherds Bush Housing Association (SBHA) is one of the leading
housing associations in the field of tenant involvement. Tenants
joined the Management Committee in 1983, and the Association
provides financial support to an Independent Tenants' Committee, as
well as encouraging the setting up of individual tenants
associations. We offer real power to our tenants as they can be
shareholding members of the Association.
Today, over 3/4 of our shareholder members
are tenants, and tenant representatives sit on every Sub Committee
within SBHA. Tenants can hold all positions up to and including the
Chair of the Committee of Management.
We have six established Tenants' Associations
that are formally recognised by SBHA and a number of active tenants
groups awaiting recognition. There is regular contact between the
tenants' organisations and the staff on a range of issues, with
staff regularly attending tenants meetings and the Independent
Tenant Committee meetings.
We also have
intouch@sbha to
provide a support service to the Independent Tenants' Committee and
tenants generally.
intouch@sbha will carry out
surveys, focus groups, mystery shopping and tenant liaison under
the guidance of the Tenants' Committee.
We also have a leaflet which sets out the various ways that you can
get involved it is available in the
publications section of this
site.
