Service Charges
Service charges are weekly amounts charged to tenants who live in
housing with communal areas that require services to maintain them.
These are often small estates.
Typical examples are cleaning and gardening, external lighting and
entry phone systems. We collect the charges in addition to the rent
and use the funds to pay the services. All of the services are
managed through contracts that are regularly reviewed and costs are
kept as low as possible. All tenants paying a service charge
receive an annual statement showing the breakdown of the charges
and what has been spent. The Neighbourhood Officer is responsible
for setting the service charges and monitoring the quality of the
services provided by the contractors.
